This exhibition at The Lyric marked an important moment in sharing my work publicly as a Minnesota artist.
The show featured a selection of original pieces created in colored pencil and pen and ink, reflecting subjects drawn from wildlife, storytelling, and everyday life in northern Minnesota.
Exhibiting Work in a Public Space
Showing artwork in a public setting creates a different kind of relationship with the work. Once it leaves the studio, it becomes part of a broader conversation with viewers, collectors, and fellow artists.
That experience reinforces the idea that art is not created in isolation, but shared and interpreted in many different ways.
A Step in a Larger Journey
Looking back, this exhibition represents an early stage in a continuing artistic path—one that has grown into larger exhibitions and more personal exploration of subject matter and meaning.
That evolution can be seen more clearly in later work, including my recent exhibition at Split Rock Lighthouse and ongoing colored pencil and pen and ink pieces.
